Vienna Tours – The Vienna Tourist Information Bureau (Albertinaplatz 1, daily 9am-7pm, telephone 24 555) will be able to provide you with details of the many guided walks that can be taken around the streets. Local experts explain the various historical and factual stories behind the city and their subjects range from art nouveau architecture to the Third Man tour that takes you around the sites depicted in the film. The walks cost approx €11 and last from one to two hours.

Vienna Sightseeing Tours (Graf Starhemberg-gasse 25, telephone 712 4683) offers bus tours of the city and surrounding districts, daily from Apr-Oct at 9.45am, 10.30am (English-speaking tour) and 2.45pm, Nov-Mar at 9.45am and 2.45pm (English-speaking tour). The tour costs €34 and takes 3 ½ hours.

CityRama Sightseeing tours (1, Borsegasse, telephone 534 130) also offers a comprehensive guide to the city.
If you want something a bit different then book a city tour on a vintage 1920’s tram. You climb on board at Otto Wagner Pavillion on Karlsplatz and then rumble around the streets for an hour. Tickets can be bought on board and cost €15. It runs from May-Sep and on Saturdays leaves at 11.30am and 1.30pm and on Sundays and public holidays at 9.30am, 11.30am and 1.30pm. Call 892 1334 to book.
